Interview and Photo by Andy Isaacson

Preferred fueling station
Coffee and pink cupcakes at Ritual Coffee Roasters

Food to die for
Vegan shawarma at Herbivore. Must be followed by vegan fruit pancakes smothered in syrup.

Culinary haunts
Pacific Catch, on Chestnut. Lettus Cafe Organic in the Marina — it’s kid-friendly. Locals who inspire me [Bhakti yogi] Rusty Wells, of course. The people who do service at Glide Church. My kids — they’re local, aren’t they?

Where I take the kids
Rock scrambling by the Mt. Davidson Cross. Stow Lake to ride the paddleboats and feed the ducks. Hiking to Twin Peaks, with grapes or blueberries — they taste extra special when you get to the top.

Clothes I can’t live without
Jeans at Villains on Haight Street Given a free moment for myself, I head to… Land’s End, to stretch, breath, move, touch the rocks, listen to music and have the whole city at my back.

If I left San Francisco tomorrow, I’d miss…
What wouldn’t I miss? I’d miss. I want to take it anywhere I go. I don’t want to use the word “vibe” because it sounds so San Francisco, but it’s got the vibe. It’s got the juice.
