Adey Bel

There’s nothing like an intimate concert with Adey Bell, and now you can immerse yourself in the experience anytime. Adey & James Hoskins Live is the first DVD of an Adey Bell concert. As a singer/songwriter, she joins the ranks of such virtuosos as Tori Amos, Kate Bush, and Joni Mitchell, blending classically influenced piano composition with raw, lyrical, reflective intimacy. Adey is a genius vocalist and composer; in addition to her stunningly soulful, angelic voice and unreal piano chops, Adey’s repertoire of soul-stirring, deliciously composed originals make her impossible to classify. In this show she works with master cellist James Hoskins to carve out a deep emotional journey at San Rafael’s TMS Performing Arts Center. The concert features pieces from Adey’s vast original repertoire, including new unreleased songs such as “Venom,” “Peace of Man,” and “The Fool.”

With 25-plus years of piano playing and singing under her belt, she’s got the stark talent of Tori and the charisma of Madonna, singing us back to our own fullness. Her transcendental, relevant art has the depth and realness of your most complex and vivid dreams. With the skill of a surgeon, she nurtures and devastates her audience, leading us through a complex maze of transcendence with complete command of her instrument. Listening to her cover version of Steve Winwood’s “Higher Love” reinvents the classic rock song as a deeply spiritual anthem of yearning and faith. Her fertile flood of 16 new, original songs and occasional covers is stunning.

Adey’s music touches everyone uniquely; you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how deeply you fall in love with this beautifully moving music.
