Peter Kater & Peia Luzzi

She Peter Kater 2017 grammy winning artist featuring peia luzzi - real music

Peter Kater presents She, an evocative new recording featuring archetypal songstress Peia Luzzi. She resounds from within the profound sanctity of life, from the depths of our innermost vulnerabilities to the heights of our most ecstatic rejoicings. On She, Peter and Peia celebrate in joyous music the divine feminine in all her earthy sensuality and celestial mystery.

Peter is well known for his prolific skills as an improvisational pianist on more than 70 albums since 1983. A multi-platinum-selling composer who has also scored the music to more than a hundred TV and film productions, Peter has performed all over the world including at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the United Nations. He’s received dozens of honors for his beautiful music, including 12 Grammy nominations and a recent Grammy win for his album “Dancing On Water.”

Is it possible that his finest work to date is on this new album featuring Peia Luzzi? I say yes! Peia, a renowned song carrier, perfectly blends vocalizing beauty and intricate bright colors—her voice is at once enchanting, dreamy, and uplifting.

This album was recorded at A432 Hz, with no “autotune” or vocal correction used on Peia’s pure vocals. Peia has gathered songs from ancient traditions that span the globe. She carries melodies wrinkled and wise with time, laboring faithfully to revive their language, stories, and original essence. Peter plays piano, synthesizers, sequencing, and percussion. Additionally, Matt Hefner plays bass and Michelle Ancheta plays cello. Worldly percussion passages accentuate the movement of change and opening, so greatly needed these days. The nature sounds on the album were recorded by Peter at various waterfalls, beaches, and bamboo forests on Maui.

This unlikely collaboration is the perfect balm for healing the masculine/feminine polarities in sacred love. Elevating the call to surrender into the power of sound, Peia’s sensitive delivery invites us to bow to the mystery. In celebration of She, Peter will be joined by Peia for a mini-tour of CD release concerts. Their sole Bay Area stop will be Sunday, April 1, 7 pm at Unity of Marin (Novato), on Easter Sunday.
